Income from our shop helps us provide our confidential listening service, paying for things such as the telephone, electricity and gas bills, and maintaining our building.
Our shop is one of the most visible signs of Samaritans at work in the community and we sell goods kindly donated by local people. An Aladdin's cave of choice and variety - you never know what you might find as stock is regularly changed and replenished. It's an attractive shopping environment with very affordable prices.
What happens to the money spent in the shop
After paying its own overheads, for example heating and electricity bills and the salary of the shop manager, all profits go directly to cover the costs of running the Samaritans service in Swindon and the surrounding area. Last year the shop provided over £20,000 towards our running costs.
Donating Items for sale
Please bring your donations directly to the shop during opening hours (see above). Please don't leave donations outside the shop when it is closed as unfortunately people will break open the bags, take things out and scatter the contents around!
What items can we sell?
We will accept your donations of Ladies, Men's and Children's clothing, shoes, bags & accessories, books, DVD's & CD's & bric-a-brac.
Unfortunately, we aren't able to accept electrical items larger items such as furniture primarily due to health and safety and space restrictions.
Swindon & District Samaritans work in cooperation with other locally based recycling schemes to ensure un-saleable items find their way to people who can use them.
Corporate & Business Collections
Can you have a collection day of goods for our shop at your workplace? We can provide posters, bags and arrange to collect everything from you. Please call the shop and talk to or leave a message for our shop manager.
