Samaritans - helping people in Portsmouth and East Hampshire

We have been helping people in Portsmouth for over 50 years and cover a semi-circle above the coast, including:

  • Gosport
  • Fareham
  • Petersfield
  • Havant

We are easy to spot on the London Road next to Rowlands Pharmacy. Between 9am and 10pm you can ring the door bell to talk to one of our volunteers.

We have a great outreach team who raise awareness of Samaritans' work by giving talks to local organisations and groups in the area. Contact us if you would like to know more or if you would like us to come along to your conference or event.

Network Rail and Portsmouth and East Hampshire Samaritans have a long-standing relationship and we try to have a presence at any local railway station if there has been an incident, providing leaflets for commuters in case they have been affected.

Volunteering in Portsmouth and East Hampshire

We welcome new volunteers of all ages, and are particularly looking for people to assist in covering our night shifts. Fundraising in Portsmouth and East Hampshire

We are looking for people who enjoy running or are looking for a new challenge in 2018 to take part in the Great South Run on Sunday 21 October raising money for Samaritans of Portsmouth and East Hampshire.

This flat and world-leading 10 mile route takes thousands of runners past the historic Portsmouth Dockyard, home of HMS Victory, and finishes with stunning seaside views of the Isle of Wight.

You will get the fundraising support from our team. They’re friendly, enthusiastic and above all, dedicated to helping you reach your target, and completing the Great South Run. You will also get a Samaritans t-shirt to wear.

    Forget about Blue Monday, you need to know about Samaritans' Brew Monday. The Branch were involved in events were taking place across the Portsmouth and East Hampshire area. Several of out volunteers were at Wild Thyme Wholefoods in Palmerston Road in Southsea.
