Visiting the new Chad Varah memorial garden
Our director Sarah and Treasurer John recently attended the opening of a garden in memory of Samaritans founder.
The Chad Varah Memorial Garden has been created at Baysgarth Park in Chad's home town of Barton-Upon-Humber. Its aim is to provide a permanent memorial and a pleasant and peaceful space for people to learn about Samaritans and its founder. The garden was opened by his daughter Felicity Varah-Harding on Saturday, 14th July 2018. The event was also attended by the national Chair of Trustees, Jenni McCartney.
Sarah said of the event: "The garden provides a beautiful space where people can reflect and relax and find out more about the man behind such an important and enduring organisation".
