50th Anniversary of Samaritans in North Devon & North Cornwall Poster Competition
The Samaritans (Barnstaple) are delighted to announce the winners of their recent Schools Art Competition.  The competition was conceived to both celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Samaritans in North Devon & North Cornwall, and to promote awareness of Samaritans work in the community.  It was also felt that the subject choices offered to the school children could form a valuable part in their programme of study relating to emotional health and support for those in distress
Several hundred entries caused some scratching of heads for the 6 Judges in Barnstaple's Library last week - but eventually three winners were chosen
The competition was split into 3 age groups, each winner receiving an Apple i-pad plus the return of their entry professionally framed.  Their schools will receive an award plaque, plus the offer of an Art Masterclass by local Artists Ruth Bateman & Ian Hudson (both of whom took part in the Judging)

The Samaritans would like to thank all 6 Judges (which also included The Mayor - Julie Hunt) for the generous time spent 'pondering' in the Library.  We would also wish to thank The Barnstaple Library and staff for supporting the competition and allowing the use of the Library for a week's exhibition of the artworks.
