Did you know that we have a variety of roles you can get involved in?
Being a Listening Volunteer involves answer calls, emails, texts and face to face contacts when people visit our branch. Our Support Volunteer do not deal directly with our callers or visitors but instead play a vital role in fundraising, publicity, admin and lots more besides which allow us to offer a round the clock service to anyone who needs us. Some handle both callers and the support work but rest assured, Leatherhead branch has a place for you and your talents!
Our 101 volunteers in this branch range from students to people in the 80s, come from all walks of life, and live across Leatherhead and Mid Surrey.
We are active in the wider community and fundraise or awareness-raise at major events, at educational institutions and at groups which invite us to explain our work. Sometimes, but not always, this involves public speaking. It is therefore essential that we have sufficient volunteers - everyone finds it enriching and worthwhile.
Currently we recruit and train our volunteers twice a year. Training usually starts March/April (depending on Easter holidays) and then mid September. However, we kick the whole process off about 6-8 weeks before that with an Information Morning, its not vital to attend these but it does give you a good overview of what being a volunteer is like, what it involves, expectations and also gives you the opportuntiy to meet existing volunteers and ask any questions you might have.
You can register your interest in volunteering with us by sending an email to: firstname.lastname@example.org, we look forward to hearing from you!
