A new Director, a new direction!

Tuesday 8th August 2017
The New Director of Samaritans Kilkenny & Carlow - Louise, has her sights set on supporting the local community.

Your local branch of Samaritans Kilkenny & Carlow have elected a New Director - Louise.

Louise says "As of from today my plan for our Samaritans Branch is that we get out into our local communities and show our people we are here for them. It's time Kilkenny city & Carlow are introduced to their local branch, know where and when to find us, and feel supported. A lot of community based activities are currently being organized. There are over 100 volunteers within the branch and they are about to become a lot more active outside of the branch. Kilkenny and Carlow have a lot to be proud of, are both very progressive communities in many areas and deserve to be very well supported no matter what is or is not happening. Our role here as Samaritans is to promote Emotional Wellness and to be right at hand when times are tough. We need to look after each other. And that's what my vision for our Branch is: to be community focused. We have a specially trained team of volunteers who will be going out into our local schools to talk to our young people about Emotional Wellness and support, we have more teams of volunteers going out onto the streets to bring our support to those who need us but haven't managed to contact us, we will be teaming up with other local charities and organizations to work together towards our vision that fewer people die by suicide. We have a lot about to happen and I really hope this will help a lot at a local level to provide much needed support.
Do call anytime you feel like you could do with some support. We are good listeners and we want you to call.  Our number is free to call: 116 123 Or call up to talk to one of our volunteers in our Branch during our opening hours.

Watch this space for regular updates on our future community activities. If you see us out and about, we would love you to stop and say hello! We will be in our Samaritans green t-shirts and Navy 'talk to us' jackets.
