24th July was an interesting day - and baking hot!
Havering Samaritans were part of the national "Big Listen" campaign. In our case that meant being visible at Romford Railway Station in two hour shifts from 8am to 4pm. The aim was to hand out contact cards and simply let people know we exist and what we do.
We were delighted to be joined by students from the Frances Bardsley Academy for Girls. They are part of "LIFE Ambassadors" as promoted by the LIFE Education Trust so some exposure to promoting the work of Samaritans was very welcome. They are studying empathy, well being and good mental health as an encouragment to their peers to look out for each other.

While at the station we took some photos of Customer Service Team member, Tony, who, in December, will be on a mamouth "Walk the Line" trek covering all 42 stations on the new Elizabeth Line which will open a few days later. He is hoping for sponsorship and there will be more information available nearer the time.
