Dunfermline Samaritans attended the Children's Gala on Saturday to not only fundraise for the branch but speak to the local community about Samaritans work in Dunfermline.
The branch were honoured to be part of this local celebration where according to the gala committee over 3000 school children take part in the parade and around 15,000 people spectate. The first gala took place in 1902 when the Dunfermline Co-operative society held the first one and has grown in size and popularity since then.
The Dunfermline branch successfully fundraised £266.07 thanks to the kindness of the Gala attendees. The branch had a tombola, face painting, straw game, lucky dip and bracelets on sale from the stall. If any gala attendees wished to speak to a volunteer regarding the work of the Samaritans or for someone to listen a team of 12 volunteers were on hand. The team ensured the day went without hitch and both children and adults were able to partake in the activities. With such an excellent day had by all and the fundraising success Dunfermline Samaritans will look to return next year with their green gazebo.
