Our event will start at 2 p.m. with a “Tea and a Talk” for people who have been touched by suicide in some way. An official ceremony, in which ribbons will be tied to an artificial tree, will take place at 3:30 p.m. to celebrate the lives of the people of Bury who have lost their lives to suicide. Nationally every year more than 800,000 people take their own lives and up to 25 as many make a suicide attempt and over the last five years Bury has seen on average 18 deaths by suicide per year. Samaritans' theme for this year's World Suicide Prevention Day is 'It's Okay to Talk' and we welcome you to join us.
