    Men in the UK are three times more likely than women to end their own lives. In Brighton & Hove suicide rates for men in the 45-65 age range are higher than average and so a particular cause for concern.

  • Latest Branch Figures in Time for Volunteers Week

    Last year Brighton, Hove and District Samaritans had 202 volunteers and the branch answered 62,202 calls for help, according to new figures released this week. In the South East as a whole there were 1,662 volunteers and the service was contacted 480,546 times, by people struggling to cope.

    International best-selling crime writer, Peter James, has recently become patron of Brighton, Hove and District branch of Samaritans. An early benefit of Peter’s support will be a Charity Gala performance at The Theatre Royal, Brighton on 28 January 2014 of the play of his novella, The Perfect Murder, in aid of your local branch of Samaritans.
