Celebrating an incredible 300 years of Samaritans volunteering
Last Wednesday afternoon 26th January we held a special event to celebrate the fantastic efforts of eight Manchester and Salford Branch volunteers who have collectively amassed an amazing 300 years of Samaritans service.
The afternoon tea party was organised by Alix and hosted by Branch Directors Martine and Lesley in the lovely lounge rooms of Manchester Tennis and Racquet Club in Salford. It provided an opportunity to reflect on the efforts of these Eight volunteers, who have together dedicated many thousands of hours to Samaritans and provided much needed support to countless callers.
Without the support of volunteers like this, the Branch would never fulfil anywhere near the number of shifts we require, and so their efforts really can’t be celebrated and thanked enough.
Of special mention is Barbara Flinn, who has volunteered for fifty years and still works volunteer shifts today.
A huge thank you to all of the Eight who attended, and a huge thank you to all our other Manchester and Salford Branch volunteers – you really do make such a difference.
