Volunteer with Huddersfield Samaritans

Volunteer roles within Huddersfield Samaritans

Huddersfield Samaritans is run entirely by volunteers. We are a friendly bunch who enjoy meeting new people and have new volunteers join us.

There are many ways to help and we have volunteering opportunities to suit everyone! Here are just some of the roles that we have available.

Samaritans listening volunteers

These volunteers provide the service that Samaritans is famous for: listening to others in need of support. For the role, we are looking for people who are:

  • caring
  • empathetic
  • non-judgemental
  • able to listen without prejudice
  • there for people when they need it the most.

Volunteering in Samaritans charity shop

Huddersfield Samaritans charity shop in Marsh offers volunteers a fun environment to work in where they can interact with other members of the public and volunteers.

There are a variety of roles to choose from, including:

  • sorting through donations
  • arranging the shop floor
  • selling to customers.

Even if you only have a few hours a week to volunteer at the shop - do get in touch! We would be happy to fit around the times that best suit you.

These are held regularly at our centre, and are an opportunity for you to find out more about what we do – no commitment at this stage!
