FITNESS fanatics put their bodies to the test by completing a gruelling bootcamp to raise cash for charity.
Colchester Samaritans were delighted to be invited to support the Colchester Bootcamp at Abbey Fields on 11th January, where Gabriel organised a fundraiser for our branch. Gabriel is a fantastic supporter of our charity having also organised a burpee challenge for us in the past, and we were honoured that this event was designed to once again raise much needed funds towards our branch running costs.
Gaynor Bell, Director of Samaritans Colchester was there on the day, along with Hilary Savage our Outreach Director, and other supporters who were cheering on from the sidelines.
With over 50 participants, who were clearly put through their paces, Gabriel raised an incredible amount in donations with over £800 collected in total by the end of the event.
Gabriel is passionate about the positive contribution regular exercise can make to maintaining a healthy mind and body through his bootcamp programmes.
Bootcamp organiser, Gabriel, adds his own personal comment:
"My name Gabriel, and I’m a massive supporter of Samaritans, after suffering with my own mental health during personal struggles with being homeless and battling the courts for access to my son, the support these amazing volunteers give save lives.
It can be a struggle to reach out to friends and family as you don’t want to become a burden and can feel extreme amounts of loneliness. Having a listening, unjudging ear can help overcome this.
It’s my personal mission to bring awareness to mental health and backing this charity through my Bootcamp is one way I can support and bring awareness to it."
