We’ve been working to provide emotional support to the community since 1971, so we’ve now been doing our important work for more than 50 years! Initially based on Chatsworth Road, we moved to Rose Hill in 1976, and our current location on Saltergate in 2015.

With the Covid pandemic easing we know that some people may not find the return to everyday life easy to cope with. Our Face to Face service is still suspended but callers can phone Samaritans free on 116 123 or send an email to [email protected]. Samaritans are here for you, if you need us.

Volunteer with Us

Today, we have more than 50 Samaritans, all volunteers, who support callers on the phone, and by e-mail. Furthermore, Samaritans have recently introduced a live-chat service and Chesterfield is now a part of that service.

Our focus is always on the people who contact us, but the working environment for our listeners is friendly and extremely supportive. Our listeners receive careful and extensive training.
