The third Monday in January is sometimes dubbed "Blue Monday". At Samaritans, we prefer to mark it as Brew Monday, where we encourage people to get together for a cuppa and a chat.
At Cheltenham and District branch, we marked Brew Monday this year with several events through the week.
Chatting with guests at Open Door
Our volunteers joined guests at Cheltenham Open Door on Tuesday and Thursday this week. Thanks to a generous donation from Tesco, we were happy to take biscuits, cakes, tea and coffee along to share with them, and had some good conversations. We are really pleased to be able to be able to participate in face-to-face activities like this again to support our local community.
Reaching out at railway stations
Our volunteers were also at Cheltenham Spa and Kemble stations on Monday, offering tea bags to passengers.
This was not just a one-off visit to the train stations for Brew Monday. We are pleased to have an ongoing relationship, with our volunteers visiting Cheltenham Spa train station once a month.,
