Support for non-English speakers

In addition to our English emotional support helpline, we can offer support in other languages.

If you or someone you know would like support from Samaritans in another language please arrange for an English speaker to call us to request support in your native tongue.  Central London Samaritans has a high number of bi-lingual volunteers who are able to support you. Please note that unlike the English line which is available 24/7 this service has to be pre-arranged.  If we don’t have a speaker in the appropriate language we will attempt to source one from one of the 18,500 Samaritans volunteers from the national movement.

We currently offer support in:

  • British Sign Language
  • Burmese
  • Chinese
  • Chinese(Mandarin)
  • Czech
  • Danish
  • Dutch
  • Flemish
  • French
  • German
  • Greek
  • Gujarati
  • Hindi
  • Italian
  • Japanese
  • Korean
  • Mandarin
  • Nepalese
  • Punjabi
  • Russian
  • Spanish
  • Swedish
  • Telegu
  • Urdu
  • Welsh

If you are able to speak more than one language and have a good level of written and spoken English and live or work in Central London why not consider volunteering with us?
