Samaritans Workplace team trains external organisations in and around Cardiff, using our core strengths and skills as an organisation in order to generate income for the charity.
We train and support staff in external organisations across the private, public and voluntary sectors with skills that equip them to handle emotionally challenging situations effectively, sensitively and professionally. This includes dealing with members of the public who are stressed or angry, as well as managers supporting staff who are overloaded with work or proving difficult to manage.
These skills are useful because, while employees can often feel sufficiently trained in the practicalities of their job role, many feel ill-prepared for the emotional challenges that come alongside it, such as dealing with difficult customers and staff conversations.
Our training courses, tailored for the workplace, share our simple and effective tools and techniques to equip employees with the skills and confidence they need to handle emotional situations effectively, sensitively and professionally. These tools include familiar concepts from volunteer training such as the Listening Wheel and Emotional Health Scale, together with additional workplace specific tools which help develop listening skills and practices into the work environment.
