Samaritans at Belfast Pride 2017

Volunteers from Belfast branch and Festival team at Belfast Pride 2017
Tuesday 8th August 2017
Saturday, 5th August saw one of the largest crowds yet for Belfast Pride. Adding to the colour of the day were volunteers from Samaritans' Irish Festival team ably assisted by their Belfast branch colleagues.

Samaritan volunteers from the festival team have supported the Pride event for the past 5 years providing face-to-face emotional support on the street to those in need over the weekend. Samaritans are proud to support this event but the welcome that our van (above) and those volunteers was truly incredible and visibly moved some of our team as we moved along the parade route which was thick with people. All in all it was a great day and this augmented our important emotional support work that Festival performs and has done at many different kinds of event across the Irish region for the past 20 years.
