On Thursday 27th February McCracken Drama Society will be presenting a perfomance of Sam Cree's well-known comedy Strictly For The Birds
Over the past ten years, the McCracken Drama Society have put on many great performances of well-loved comedies and in so doing have also shown tremendous support for the work of Samaritans in Belfast.
This year's performance takes place on Thursday 27th February 2020 at 7.45pm
Strictly For The Birds is a comedy giving an insight into life in Belfast in the early 60s featuring the Glover family from the Castlereagh Road area. When Mrs. Glover and a neighbour draw the favourite in the Irish Sweepstake, in the excitement they set about spending their winnings in advance. But sure favourites can sometimes lose ...
Often featuring the work of well known playwright and television screenwriter Sam Cree, who wrote for artists at Belfast's influential Arts Theatre and the creator of works for the likes of James Young, Benny Hill, Sid James and many others the McCracken Society's performances have always had a great reception. Each year a special benefit performance in support of Belfast Samaritans has helped to boost the work of Samaritans in supporting people who are going through tough times.
Many have been richly entertained by these wonderful productions over the years so why not come along for a great evening's entertainment. As always the presentation will take place in McCracken Church Halls at the top end of the Malone Road. The minimum suggested donation is £5 (at the door) but as all proceeds go to support Samaritans every penny will be well used to further our work.
