Our branch has been heavily involved in working with BBC Northern Ireland on its broacast appeal, and this year the appeal will feature Samaritans, asking for people to consider volunteering. And one of volunteers, Debbie, has provided a radio interview on what it is like to be a volunteer with Samaritans, and Nuala McKeever has very kindly presented our appeal explaining our call to action.
The broadcast will be aired on BBC NI Radio Ulster on Sunday 30th July at 8.55am as part of Sunday Sequence and if you miss it you can listen again on Monday 31st July at 2.55pm, or have a look on the BBCNI website here. You’ll need to listen carefully because it will be a fairly short piece!
The BBC visited our branch on 25 June, where a number of volunteers from both our branch and the Belfast branch were filmed for a number of stills and interviews which will be included on the BBC NI Appeal website, Communities NI website, Radio Ulster Facebook page and Twitter account, to accompany the appeal.
This has been a great opportunity for Samaritans in Northern Ireland and we are very excited and proud of this opportunity. We want to say a huge thank you for all the volunteers involved, Nuala McKeever for her significant input and the BBC NI who will hopefully help us to reach out to a large audience across the province.
