Solihull Samaritans are delighted that they are also now able to recruit and train potential volunteers who have mobility difficulties or who need wheelchair accessibility. This is thanks to a wonderful National Lottery grant and lots of fundraising that has enabled a lift and extension to the premises to be built.

Friends of the Solihull Samaritans

It costs over £20,000 each year to maintain the centre and with no funding available, the Friends of the Solihull Samaritans work hard organising fundraising events such as the golf day, walks, music concerts and flag days to keep the centre running.

The Friends of the Solihull Samaritans are always looking for new fun ways to raise money for the charity. If you think you can help please ring 0121 704 2255 for more details.

Recent Fundraising Events:

On 25th June sisters Susie and Jo Murray set off to cycle a 1,050 mile route from Land's End to John O'Groats. They were so delighted to complete this epic journey on the 16th July and here is a picture of them at the finish line.

The Solihull Samaritans branch are so grateful to the Murray sisters for completing this huge challenge and to all those who sponsor them and help raise funds for the Solihull Samaritans especially as it costs over £20,000 each year to maintain the centre and with no funding available, they rely heavily on support such as this.

Someone contacts the Samaritans for help every 7 seconds so imagine how many calls they will deal with in the time it took Susie and Jo to reach their goal - this cycle challenge will help to ensure that Solihull Samaritans can keep on doing this in the future.

Now, they set a target of £5,250, money is still coming in, but the current total is only £815 so if anyone else is able to help by sponsoring their endeavours, it will be very much appreciated.  You can do so via the website just giving which ensures that the monies raised reaches the Samaritans - www.justgiving.com/tired_legs or by contacting Solihull Samaritans on 0121 704 2255 for more details.

On Saturday 31st October Solihull Samaritans, friends and Solihull fireman all helped out at the charity car wash at Solihull Fire station and were delighted to raise over £450.  This was divided between the fire service and the Solihull Samaritans who benefitted by £227.67.  Well done to all involved!!  Here is a picture of some of the hardworking team involved.
