Irish Festival branch
Samaritans Irish Festival branch was launched in
January 1999 with the aim of taking Samaritans' service to
locations where there are large numbers of people, increasing the
availability and accessibility of confidential emotional support to
anyone who needs it. Every year the branch requests a presence at
selected major events according to the availability of volunteers
and schedule of the events.

Festival branch volunteers are trained to offer
face-to-face support in a discreet way to those they speak to and
when availed of, seems like two people having a conversation. Last
year, Samaritans festival branch attended eight events and spoke to
in excess of 1,300 people, almost three-quarters of whom were male
and one-third were aged 16-24.
