Gifts in Wills

Have you considered leaving a gift in your Will to Samaritans?

Leaving a gift in your Will is one of the most generous ways you can help Samaritans.

woman drinking teaMany people think gifts left in Wills have to be large, or that you have to be rich to do it; but you don't.  Every penny makes a difference to the lives of people in emotional distress.

Family and friends should always come first, but the next time you update your WIll - or make one - why not consider if there's room for Samaritans there too?

For committed supporters, it's often the last step in a lifetime of charitable giving, and a way to ensure that causes closest to your heart are taken care of after you've passed away.

Helping people like Helen

A gift in your Will could help Samaritans plan for the future as well as help people like Helen (not her real name), who called Samaritans when she was in her early thirties.

In quick succession, Helen faced a health crisis, family bereavment and the loss of her vocation, and she was left struggling with deep depression.

"Samaritans is definitely the reason I'm still alive today," says Helen.  "When I called, the volunteer on the other end of the phone listened as I unloaded all the emotions that had been bringing me down... After talking things through with him, I felt like a difrerent person; a person with a life ahead of them."

It cost just £3.88 to answer Helen's call. Can you help us be there for the thousands of others who need us every year, now and in the future?  Remembering Samaritans in your Will is just one way of doing that, like one supporter who told us this:

"In 1994, my yougest son took his own life whilst at university.  He had suffered for some time with depression, and ultimately found it impossible to deal with the depth of his feelings.

The pain my family and I have endured has, at times, been almost unbearable.  By leaving a gift in my Will to Samaritans, I can help provide other young people with a lifeline and hopefully save families from the agony we went through."
