Samaritans was selected as one of The Vodafone UK Foundation’s (TVUKF) flagship charity partners in 2004 and received £1.5M over 3 years to develop the provision of targeted emotional support to young people aged 16-25.

The vision of Samaritans is for young people to be able to accept and take ownership of their feelings, and make them aware of the need to talk about them and know that Samaritans services is available, appropriate and accessible to them.

The ‘Reaching Out to Young People’ programme has transformed the perception of Samaritans’service amongst young people. The email service has made a fundamental difference to the way in which the service communicates and responds to young people in distress, particularly young men who find it hard to talk about their feelings.
