Motorola Birmingham Fundraising for SamaritansBirmingham

Funds raised for Samaritans’ Birmingham branch have largely been put towards Outreach in the area.

The branch used the money to produce green sticks of rock with the text “when life sucks” printed through the middle, and Samaritans contact details on the label.  Volunteers then hit the streets of Birmingham at closing time and gave out the sticks of rock to people as they were on their way home.

The rock drops took place on Broad Street in Birmingham. It has been a fantastic initiative for Samaritans volunteers to meet so many people on Broad Street on a Friday night and raise awareness of Samaritans in Birmingham.

On the project side the branch have further upgraded their telephone system to incorporate digital lines and new hand sets and head sets and replaced their old CCTV security system with a newer system to ensure volunteer safety whilst on duty.
