but not a big charity. Samaritans turnover is dramatically smaller
than other charities of a similar stature.
- We are an efficiently run
charity with just 96 full time paid staff and 18,500
volunteers.

What we would
do with your support
The current economic situation means thousands more people are
feeling the stress of money worries and increased pressure.
Samaritans help ordinary people - like your
colleagues and their families - who just happen to be going
through an extra-ordinary crisis.
Our Volunteers take more than 5 million contacts every
year, enabling people to talk about their problems by
phone, text, email and face-to-face.
By supporting Samaritans you will help us to continue to provide
our life saving service for the millions of people who contact us
in distress.
£35,000 would enable Samaritans to run for a
day.
£10,000 would cover the cost of equipping 10
branches with the state of the art telephony system, enabling us to
reduce the number of calls that go unanswered by 25%.
£1,000 would enable us to maintain a new,
free-to-call system for a day, answering 13,900 calls.
£3.88 pays for one call to be answered by a
volunteer.
Everything had come to a head. We were
separating. My wife was moving away with the children. To this day
I don't know what I would've done if I hadn't rung Samaritans.
