Becoming a volunteer at Stockport Samaritans . . .
. . . almost 3,000 people were newly recruited and trained as Samaritans volunteers in the UK last year!
You don’t need any formal qualifications or previous experience to be a Samaritan. You do need to be able to listen and not judge people, allowing them the time and space to explore and express their feelings.
Our service is mostly delivered on the telephone as well as supporting people by e-mail. We also see callers face to face in the branch. It can be challenging but we will fully prepare you. Your commitment will be valued and your skills and experience will be constantly developed.
Are you over 17 and able to give around 4 hours a week with a monthly overnight shift?
