Stockport Council . . .
. . . we are grateful to the Adults and Communities Directorate at Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council (SMBC)
They have recently awarded us £5,000 a year for 3 years after a successful grant application, starting from the financial year 2008/09. We receive the money as we have been successfully judged to be helping the Council in meeting its priorities in the community. Our work is important for all those in our local community who are in distress or despair or suicidal and we will be specifically supporting the Council with 3 priorities:
- Improved outcomes for adults who may be vulnerable to social exclusion;
- Children and young people feel more safe and secure;
- Older people are able to develop and maintain personal aspirations through access to voluntary, leisure, community and social activities.
the money is very valuable to us in funding just under 30% of our branch running costs including our branch building, phone bills, heating, lighting and facilities. We still need to raise much more each year through fundraising activities and you can read much more about the wide and exciting variety of things we do on the other fundraising pages. All volunteers are very welcome!
