The 2010 Annual Gene2010 AGMral Meeting . . .

. . . real people, real lives, real difference

Stockport Samaritans’ 31st Annual General Meeting was held on 9 June 2010 at Churchgate House, and we were delighted that The Worshipful the Mayor of Stockport (Councillor Hazel Lees) was able to attend, along with other guests from Samaritans branches and the Northwest region.

Attendees were welcomed by Sharon 3, Chair of the branch, who outlined the way that Samaritans’ values tie in with the priorities and objectives of Stockport Council, and explained that the main challenge for the branch committee and volunteers over the coming year will be to find alternative accommodation as the Council has told the branch that we will need to move out of Churchgate House.

Following a review of the year’s accounts and the nomination of officers and members of the committee, a moving presentation was shown that highlighted the core work carried out by Samaritans nationally, a good reminder for the Stockport volunteers that they are part of a wider movement. Mary 80 then delivered her final Director’s report, as she is standing down after serving in that role for the past 3 year. Mary stressed her pride in the delivery of the Samaritans service, encouraged everyone to continue to fulfil their commitment and contribute to the great work of the branch, and gave a warm welcome to Wendy 54 as the new Director.
