About Rotherham Branch The Rotherham
branch opened in September 1976. The branch has operated from three different
premises since then, from number 8 Percy Street until 1980 then to Brooklands
on Doncaster Road and then in the September of 1986 we moved to 22 Percy
Street, where we currently reside today We are ordinary
people of all ages, who come from all walks of life and backgrounds. What we
have in common is that we are good listeners and we want to provide
confidential, emotional support to anyone going through a crisis in their lives
and are not able to cope and are perhaps suicidal. We support
people from around the Rotherham area by phone and by face-to-face. We also
support people throughout the U.K. through the national number and by email. Rotherham
Samaritans support HMP Lindholme in Doncaster through a team of volunteers
who regularly visit the prison. The team are there to support the prisoner
listeners who are part of the Prisoner Listener Scheme. There is also a
Talks Team, which visits schools, social groups and other organisations to
talk about the Rotherhams Samaritans and explain who we are, what we do and
the support we provide to Rotherham. |
