Need to Talk?

You can talk to Samaritans at any time of day or night, 365 days a year. You can phone us on 08457 90 90 90 – this is the UK national number for all Samaritans branches. Charges vary, but calls from a BT landline cost up to 2p/minute (7p setup). You can also call Reading branch directly on 0118 926 6333. Either way, your call may be routed to any branch that is able to take the call if we are busy at the time.

If you don’t feel able to talk on the phone, why not write an email? It will give you the space you need to think about your issues: your email will be answered by any one of the Samaritans branches in the UK, normally within 12 hours.

Or, if you are nearby, you can drop in to see us at 59a Cholmeley Road, Reading RG1 3NB (near Cemetery Junction). We are normally open from 09:00 to 22:00 each day, though there are some times when we are unable to take visitors, so if possible we recommend you phone first before travelling to make sure that we will be available. It’s still possible that you may have to wait if we are on the phone when you call, but there is somewhere out of the rain where you can sit if necessary! We are fully wheelchair accessible for callers. Here is how to find us

If you don’t feel able to talk on the phone, and don’t have ready access to email, you can also text us on 07725 909090 (this number is only for text messaging). Like the email service, your message will be answered by a trained volunteer from one of the many Samaritans branches that operate this service. We will try to respond within an hour but this may not always be possible at peak times.
