Lloyd's Charities Trust

Welcome to Step by Step, Samaritans’ project to help schools build emotional resilience among staff and young people, and to be prepared for an incident of self-harm or attempted/completed suicide.

Step by Step is kindly supported by Lloyd’s Charities Trust.

If you are in another part of the UK or the Republic of Ireland and your school has been affected by an attempted or completed suicide, please contact us to discuss how we can support you.

Step by Step consists of:

  1. A suicide response service provided by local Coordinators

  2. A set of resources for young people, parents and teachers

The aim of Step by Step is to:

  • build emotional resilience among staff and young people
  • be prepared for an incident of attempted or completed suicide
  • respond effectively to an attempted or completed suicide
  • enable the school community to recover
  • prevent the formation of suicide clusters
