Teaching resources for schools
Samaritans
DEAL programme (Developing Emotional Awareness and Learning) is a
resource for schools, designed to improve the emotional health of
14-16 year olds and develop the skills that young people need to
cope with life's challenges.
DEAL can also be used to
discuss challenging topics like depression and self-harm in an
open and positive way.

Suicide and Self Harm in Schools
Samaritans is piloting a suicide response
service to support secondary school communities in the aftermath of
suicide.
Delivered by specialist volunteers in
partnership with the community, Step by Step aims to equip and
support schools to be prepared for, respond to and recover from a
completed or attempted suicide. By working with schools, families,
young people and the community, we hope to prevent further suicides
and the exacerbation of self-harming behaviour.
