Media Meeting
A Very Public Death: Working together for better reporting
Wednesday 27th August 2008
Samaritans invites you to attend this meeting on Wednesday 27th
August 2008 at the Thistle Hotel, Glasgow from 10.00 – 15.00 hours,
prior to the start of the 12th European Symposium on Suicide and
Suicidal Behaviour at 16.00 hours in the same venue.
The aim of this
event is to bring together people from across the public, private
and voluntary sector with an interest in the portrayal of suicide
in the media for an opportunity to hear expert speakers and discuss
some of the key issues.

- What does research tell us about the influence of media on
suicidal behaviour?

- What is the way forward for the industry?
Registration
The registration fee includes VAT, conference
materials, lunch, refreshments and a free copy of Samaritans Media
Guidelines (2008). Please note that there are limited places
available so, to avoid disappointment, please register at your
earliest convenience.

All Registration Forms must be accompanied by

Confirmation
Written confirmation and a receipt of payment
will be sent to you. We strongly recommend you do not book
travel until a place is confirmed in writing.
Cancellations
Delegates who are no longer able to attend the
meeting should advise the Secretariat at Hampton Medical
Conferences, in writing as soon as possible. Registration will
only be refunded, less a £10.00 administration fee, for written
cancellations received prior to 28th July 2008. Refunds will
not be made for cancellations made after this date, but name
substitutions will be accepted at any time.

database. This information is necessary for the legitimate
management of this meeting, which may include it being available to
any organising/sponsoring company. We may also use these
details to provide you with information of other conferences or
events. Please advise us should any of your details
change. You may of course remove your details from our
database by advising us in writing, at any time.
