Samaritans of Manchester & Salford

Our Manchester & Salford Branch opened in 1962 and is registered as a charity with the Charity Commission. We support callers from around the area by phone, face-to-face, from throughout the UK and National Local Number and by email.

We regularly visit Manchester's two prisons. We have 145 Volunteers, including non-listening and support Volunteers.

We can be contacted 24 hours a day, every day of the year.

We give talks at schools, social groups and other organisations.

It costs £140 a day to run this confidential service, and we receive no
financial support from central government and funds are always much needed.

We welcome non-listening support Volunteers who can help with fund-raising,
general clerical work and maintenance.
