Talks Team An important part of our work is making people aware of who we are and what we do. Hopefully by raising awareness of our presence in the community those who need us will feel able to call. It is also a way of making potential volunteers aware of our work and what it is like to be on the end of the phone. The Lewisham, Southwark and Greenwich Samaritans Talks Team is a group of current volunteers that have experience in talking to a wide range of groups; our speakers will cover topics such as the history of the Samaritan movement and how our branch was launched. They will tell you about our work providing confidential emotion support for those who are experiencing feelings of distress or despair, including those who are feeling suicidal. We will offer you an opportunity to assist us with our work and we will customise the content of the talk to suit the audience, and after each talk there is an opportunity for a question and answer session about the work of Samaritans. If your Company, group, school, club or society would like an experienced Samaritan to make a presentation to your members, we would be pleased to organise this with you. Just contact us, either email our Coordinator (this email address is for Admin Queries only - not for emotional support) or ring our branch direct on 020 8692 5228 and leave your details and a member of our Talks Team will get back to you as soon as possible. |
