Do YOU need to talk?

WHOEVER YOU ARE
WHATEVER YOU ARE CONCERNED ABOUT
WE'RE HERE TO LISTEN IN TOTAL CONFIDENCE

I need someone to talk to....
I feel so low and depressed...
I'm 12 years old and nobody understands me, I feel I can't tell my parents...
I am so worried about my best friend / son / daughter...
I don't want to be here anymore...
My life is such a mess...
I hate the way I look / I am...

Are you feeling this or any other kind of emotional distress and wish you could find someone "who has the time to listen to you" ? If so please contact us, we offer a 24 hour, completely safe and confidential service. Talking through your feelings and sharing your worries can often help you see things more clearly. Feelings of panic, distress, isolation, and the thought that you want to die or harm yourself can be very frightening, CALL US ANYTIME and share your feelings, bottling things up never helps. We won't judge you, we won't tell you what to do.

You may be concerned about someone else, a family member, a close friend or work colleague, we can offer you both our support. (see below for details).

Do you know someone else that needs to talk?

Does someone you know need support?

Samaritans are happy to accept referrals from individuals or organisations.

Not everyone "looks depressed" or "seems to be suicidal", even if they are.

These types of thoughts are very easy to hide.

  • Maybe a friend or relative has suffered a recent loss - the death of a loved one or a pet - job redundancy or retirement, or a child leaving home, bad exam results, relationships not working out, all these can cause distress.
  • Are you worried about someone whose behaviour has changed?
  • Are they - tired, not eating, not talking much, constantly in tears and lethargic?
  • Some people find it difficult to talk to those closest to them, for fear of upsetting them.

If you know someone who feels like this and would like some help supporting them, please do encourage them to call us themselves, but, if this is not possible we would be willing to try and contact them. We would like to mention your name, when we ring, but this is not essential.

If we try to contact the person you are concerned about, we would not be able to tell you whether we have made contact or not; and because confidentiality is so important to us, we would not tell you anything that was said.

Reasons for calling

There can be many reasons for someone to call us, but you don't have to be suicidal and there are no age restrictions, if you are experiencing feelings of distress or despair then please do get in touch today!
