Samaritans - how do we pay our way?

Running Lancaster Samaritans costs over £22,000 a year, even though we pay no salaries. The biggest single item is the telephone bill, but a lot also goes on training and support of our volunteer workforce, currently around 120 people, without whom we could not operate.

This money has to be raised almost entirely from fundraising efforts, including our shop in Lancaster, and charitable donations.

Donations (cash, cheques payable to "Lancaster Samaritans", or charities aid vouchers) can be sent to The Treasurer, Lancaster & District Samaritans, 21 Sun Street, Lancaster LA1 1EW.

If you are a tax payer, please "Gift Aid it". This means that every £10 you give is worth £12.80 to us, since we can recover tax without any further ado from you. If you have not already given us a declaration form, please print and complete the form here and send it with your gift; alternatively ask us for a form when you send your gift. The declaration can be back dated and it also lasts for ever - you only need to do it once!

Regular donations are particularly welcome. If you would like a standing order form, please ask (address above or telephone 01524 61666, making it clear that it is Lancaster Branch that you wish to contact).
