Volunteer Support
It is obvious that Samaritan volunteers may at times deal with very difficult
themes. Regardless of this, volunteers will not under any circumstances
talk about contacts at home or indeed, anywhere else. So are volunteers
left to cope alone with this burden ?
No! Being a leader in the field of emotional support it would be surprising
if Samaritans did not recognise the need for such support within its own
organisation. It is reassuring that one of the things that is often said
by volunteers is that the level of care and support they feel within the
Branch is outstanding.
This support is not left to chance. A number of carefully structured
initiatives ensure that all volunteers feel supported in their task of
helping others through listening.
