Social Media Officer

Maternity cover - 12 months full time

Samaritans is looking for a creative and driven individual with excellent communications skills and an eye for great content to join our growing Media team and help us to tell the story of Samaritans through our digital channels.

Samaritans receives over 5.4 million contacts a year, supporting people round the clock when life gets tough. We’re looking for an innovative social media professional who can create and share great content, oversee our social channels and identify new opportunities to help us reach the right people. The role covers a mix of news, campaigning, fundraising and everything in between, so no two days are the same and as part of the Media team you’ll be at the heart of our external communications.

Knowledge of the mental health and wellbeing arena could really help but isn’t essential, although you will need to be comfortable working with sensitive material. Some travel and attendance at events outside of office hours will also be required as part of this role but time in lieu will be offered.

Above all, we’re looking for a creative spark who can create and share great digital content to help us get our name out there, so more people know where to turn when they’re struggling to cope.
