Press and PR Officer

Samaritans is looking for an energetic, well-organised and creative Press and PR officer to help us tell the story of Samaritans.

Samaritans receives over 5.4 million contacts a year, supporting people when life gets tough. We are looking for a well-connected, innovative and digital savvy media professional who can help us reach new audiences, who can continue to enhance Samaritans’ reputation as an accessible organisation, there for everyone, whatever they may be going through. We would love to have a strong story-teller join our team, somebody who can help us continue to be relevant to younger people, with an ability to land great coverage that increases awareness of the hugely important work Samaritans does.

We’re looking for somebody who is comfortable working with sensitive material and with vulnerable people, with loads of ideas, ready to take on the challenges of a busy press office, writing press releases, sourcing case studies, responding to journalist’s requests, supporting our volunteers with press advice where necessary. 

A news background is a bonus, as is PR agency experience and experience working with case studies and ambassadors. Any knowledge of the mental health and wellbeing arena could really help but most of all we need someone who will be passionate about this job, can plan well, execute those plans and get our name out there, so more people know where to turn when they’re struggling to cope.
