Enfield, Haringey and Barnet Samaritans
Community
Talks Programme
Samaritans are available 24 hours per day and 365 days per year to give emotional support to those that seek it. We believe that we can do more than this and thus we have our Talks Programme, which actively seeks to reach out to the wider community.
Enfield, Haringey and Barnet Samaritans have a team of speakers who can give talks about what we do and how we can provide support.
We are always pleased to speak to schools, universities, colleges or community groups who might be interested in our work, or who may benefit from our service.
To book a talk or for more information please email ehb@samaritans.org
Prisons
In 2005, there were 78 self-inflicted deaths and 115 recorded serious incidents of self-harm in prisons.
As Samaritans, we are committed to helping reduce these trends in two key ways, by:
- Working in and with prisons to develop peer-support schemes (Listeners).
- Offering emotional support to prisoners and Listeners who may contact us by telephone, letter or email.
If you would like further information on our support for prisons, please email ehb@samaritans.org
Publicity
We rely on publicity to make people aware of our service; you may be able to display our posters, distribute leaflets, or publicise our work in other ways. We are grateful for any support you can offer. Please email ehb@samaritans.org
Fundraising
Enfield, Haringey and Barnet Samaritans are a stand-alone charity and must raise all the necessary funds locally to keep our branch open. We receive no money from central government or any national fund.
We take part in many fundraising events in the three boroughs. We also have fundraising packs available if you are able to offer us support. If you have any fundraising suggestions for our local branch, please email ehb@samaritans.org
