Samaritans at Derby

In 2011 there will have been a Branch of Samaritans in Derby for FIFTY YEARS.  To find out more about our first fifty years see our Branch History pages.

Our first phone call was taken on 27th January 1961, and we were staffed then,  as we still are, entirely by volunteers. At the start of 2010 we had nearly 90  volunteers doing regular duties, but we are currently looking for new recruits.  If you are interested in finding out more about becoming a volunteer  visit our Volunteering page.

We are part of something bigger

Where Are We?

Our centre is located at 110 Burton Rd - not far from the town centre - for further details see How to find us . Our branch telephone number is 01332 36 44 44.

Most people contact us by phone, but you can also visit us - you can call in to speak with a Samaritan most days of the week, all year round. If you are making a journey specifically to visit us we do recommend that you phone beforehand on 01332 36 44 44 to check that we will be open when you visit.

Some people also contact Samaritans by letter, and a growing number now use email.  In February of 2003, Derby branch became the 100th branch 'online' to receive and reply to emails. Since 2006 the branch has also been supporting people who have contacted Samaritans by text.
