Dave running an Information Evening.
If you can answer YES to these questions, then WE need YOU.
At Chesterfield Samaritans we are always on the look out for new volunteers, both listening volunteers to actively help people in distress and also supporters to help with fundraising, staffing the Samaritans Charity Shop, publicity, outreach and administrative tasks.
If you are interested in volunteering please contact the branch on 07530 330575 at any time. The recruitment team will get back to you with an information pack asap.
You can then find out whether our work is right for you by coming along for an informal chat (by appointment) or just turn up at one of our Information Evenings to be held as shown below. You will have chance, over a cup of coffee, to talk to current volunteers and get all your questions answered
If at this stage you think Samaritans is right for you, we ask you to complete an application form and then attend a Selection day, where we will get to know each other, and you will be interviewed by two experienced volunteers who will also answer any questions you may have at this point.
If successful you will be asked to attend full training for six weeks which consists of one Sunday followed by 5 weekday evenings, usually Wednesdays. Finally you will enter the centre partnered with a mentor for one month before you can answer the telephones without supervision.
Two references will be required and you will be asked to complete a Criminal Record Bureau form when you start your training.
To find out more please ring the centre on 07530 330575
