"Volunteering with Samaritans is one of the best things I ever did - it's a deeply rewarding experience, in so many ways. And my fellow volunteers are all wonderful, warm and friendly - I can't speak too highly of the experience."

Be a volunteer with Cardiff Samaritans

Volunteering with Samaritans can be a wonderful and enriching experience. At the same time as helping others, and playing your part in an internationally-renowned organization that has a history stretching back more than 50 years, you will meet various and inspiring people and gain new and valuable skills. You might even find out the odd thing or two about yourself that you never knew before! Volunteer with Samaritans

The first step is to come and see what Samaritans is all about at one of our Upcoming Open Evenings.

If you would like more information about becoming a volunteer with Cardiff & District Samaritans, please contact on 029 20 645 642

Cardiff & District Samaritans currently has over 100 volunteers and we are always looking for new members. We are a diverse and energetic bunch, ranging in age from 18 to 80+. Where else could you meet such a wide cross-section of society?! As well as Samaritans' core listening service, volunteers and prospective volunteers will find opportunities to stretch themselves and contribute to various aspects of the branch's work: whether your forte is fundraising or tea-making, organising or blue-sky-thinking...

Helping Each Other

Within a 6 week period, volunteers are expected to commit themselves to 5 four-hour shifts and one overnight shift. After attending an initial open evening and interview, prospective volunteers will receive full and extensive training before becoming members of the branch.

Alternatively, if you are unable to commit to Samaritans as a listening volunteer, you might like to help out in other ways. We are always looking for people to help out with collections, rattling tins and distributing print material.

Volunteer recruitment and retention funded with the generous assistance of WCVA.
