Prisons

As well as answering the telephone and receiving visitors, Bromley & Orpington Samaritans support the local community in other ways.

We have been visiting Belmarsh Prison for ten years, where training and ongoing support has been given to selected prisoners to act as 'listeners' to other inmates in emotional distress.

Talks Team

We are a small group of Samaritans that go out in pairs and give talks and presentations about what we do and why we are there.

We will go anywhere that invites us, during the daytime and evenings. We do not charge for our time but any donation is always gratefully received.

Places attended over the past year have been; local schools, ladies groups, religious organisations, housing associations, a support group for families of prisoners and a luncheon club for retired businessmen where we were even invited to join the lunch.
