We wouldn't be here if it wasn't for our volunteers. Volunteers are the 'life blood' of our organisation.

Samaritans remains a volunteer-led organisation and this is one of our continuing strengths. At the moment there are around 18,000 volunteers with over 202 branches across United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland, working together to ensure that we are there for people in crisis 24 hours a day, every day.

Every aspect of our work, that keeps our service available, and our branch running and promoting in the local community is done by volunteers. No one is paid at Bexley and Dartford Samaritans, our volunteers come from all walks of life and dedicate many hours of time and energy working in many different ways to deliver this service.

People volunteer for all different reasons; for the rewarding feeling of being able to do something for someone else; contributing existing skills, learning new ones and finding others their didn’t know their had. For others it’s being surrounded by like-minded group of people motivated by the same goal, putting in time and determining to see things improve.
