YOU MIGHT ASK do I need any previous experience or will I receive training to become a listening volunteer?

The answer is twofold; firstly, no you don’t need any previous experience, secondly, because it is so vitally important that we are able to listen to our callers and understand what they are trying to communicate, you will receive full training AND lots of support.

Our modular training course will provide you with all the necessary skills, and in the process you will also gain an increased self-awareness, which you will carry with you in other aspects of your life. See our page on training for New Samaritans.

Once you become a volunteer you will continue to be supported, and in order to build on previous experience and to learn new skills you will also receive On-going Training.

Our training is recognised worldwide and our branch runs External Training courses for other organisations on listening and questioning skills.
