Data are for the UK and Republic of Ireland only and exclude suicides registered in
Crown Dependencies (Isle of Man, States of Jersey, States of Guernsey) where there are Samaritans branches.

Data are compiled using codes as described below.

2 Excluding Y33.9 where the coroner's verdict was pending in England and Wales for 2001-2006. From 2007 onwards, deaths previously coded as Y33.9 are coded to U50.9.

3 Y87.0 and Y87.2 are not included for England and Wales.

*Code used for classifying deaths described as suicide in the Republic of Ireland.

statistics at different times.
