Evaluation of Samaritans emotional support
services (University of Nottingham)
This project has been funded by
Samaritans and was a two year project to evaluate the impact of
Samaritans confidential helpline, e-mail and SMS text emotional
support services.

Predicting and improving satisfaction with a
rewarding activity:
Volunteering for Samaritans (University of
Plymouth)
This longitudinal study followed new
Samaritan volunteers in the south west of England as they embarked
on their first twelve months volunteering with Samaritans through
their initial training, mentored duties, and un-mentored duties
until they have been a Samaritan volunteer for a year or they
drop-out.

prison (Univesity of Greenwich)
This study carried out an
in-depth exploration of the Listener scheme from the perspective of
prison staff (and particularly healthcare staff), users and
non-users of the scheme, and the Listeners who provide the
support.
